Eight Philadelphia Phillies Have Salary Arbitration Projections

In this story:
The Philadelphia Phillies are keenly focused on trying to win their first World Series title in more than a decade, but decisions await them in the offseason.
Prime among them is dealing with their arbitration-eligible players.
MLB Trade Rumors published its annual projections of what each Phillies player that is eligible for arbitration could receive. The Phillies have eight arbitration-eligible players in all, with infielder Alec Bohm foremost among them.
Players who have three or more years of Major League service but less than six years of Major League service are eligible.
These projections are based on an algorithm to project arbitration salaries that looks at the player’s playing time, position, role, and performance statistics while accounting for inflation.
If the Phillies and their arbitration-eligible players cannot agree on a deal by Jan. 12, then they must exchange figures and go to arbitration. In most cases, teams will come to an agreement on a one-year salary, or an extension, before the deadline.
Here are the Phillies that are eligible for arbitration, along with MLB Trade Rumors’ projected figures:
Jeff Hoffman: $2.1MM
Ranger Suarez: $4.7MM
Gregory Soto: $4.9MM
Jake Cave: $1.4MM
Edmundo Sosa: $1.7MM
Dylan Covey: $1MM
Garrett Stubbs: $900K
Alec Bohm: $4.3MM
Bohm could be one of three Phillies to end up with more than $4 million based on these projections. Bohm slashed .274/.327/.437/.764 in the regular season, with 31 doubles, 20 home runs and 97 RBI. He had to shuttle between the corner positions due to the ACL injury to first baseman Rhys Hoskins. He is now back to third base with the emergence of Bryce Harper as a solid first basemen.
Two other Phillies could be in line for more than $4 million and they are both pitchers. Ranger Suarez started Game 1 of the NLDS for the Phillies and went 4-6 with a 4.18 ERA in the regular season. He went on the injured list twice during the regular season and made 22 starts.
Reliever Gregory Soto could cash in, too. He made a career-high 69 appearances for the Phillies in 2023, going 3-4 with a 4.62 ERA. He struck out 65 and walked 22 in 60.1 innings. He held hitters to a .210 batting average.
