The goal for every team in the MLB is to make a deep postseason run. It's something that the Philadelphia Phillies did unexpectedly last year when their hot run of play got them all the way into the World Series.

Expectations were much different ahead of the 2023 season as they were viewed as contenders to get back to the championship and compete to win it this year.

For one player on the team, getting back to the World Series would mean that he has a shot to play this season.

Rhys Hoskins has been out with a torn ACL he suffered in March. It was originally thought that he would be out of the entire year even if the Phillies made a deep run.

Now, both Hoskins and Philadelphia believe that he could rejoin the team again this year if they are able to make it back to the World Series.

According to manager Rob Thomson, the slugging first baseman has begun doing tee work taking swings and started agility training that includes "change of direction" drills.

It's a huge step in the right direction for Hoskins who could copy the same thing that teammate Kyle Schwarber did for the Chicago Cubs when he rejoined the team in 2016 after tearing his ACL.

Still, getting their slugger back is unlikely. He certainly won't be back during the regular season and won't get reps at the minor league level before potentially returning in the playoffs.

The lineup has missed the power that Hoskins provides this season, so if he is able to return, it would be a welcome addition for an already loaded batting order getting back one of their power hitters.
