Philadelphia Phillies' Star Wanted Milestone For Fanbase

In this story:
Wednesday didn't end how the Philadelphia Phillies wanted it to after an incredible month of August that saw history for both its players and franchise. They set a record for most home runs during a month in club history as they went 17-10, putting themselves comfortably into the playoff picture.
During the series finale against the Los Angeles Angels another magical moment happened for one of the game's biggest stars.
Bryce Harper hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Phillies the lead. It was his third straight game with a home run and Citizens Bank Park erupted seeing their team take the lead.
However, the decibels were louder for a different reason.
That home run was Harper's 300th since entering the MLB, something that he had been imagining since he was young.
"Growing up, you don't really think about the one or the two or the three [homers]. You think about the bigger numbers. Very happy with where I'm at right now, just a stepping stone into the next couple," he told Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
It was a special moment for a special player and something he wanted to share with the fans of Philadelphia.
"I really wanted to do it at home in front of this fanbase and this great city ... I just love being a Phillie, plain and simple. It's something I dreamed about. This fanbase, this city -- I love them, plain and simple. I feel like I'm part of this family, there's nothing like it. I could go on and on, everybody thinks I pander a lot, but it's real. It's so real. It's from the bottom of my heart, and I'm just thankful to put this jersey on every day," he said.
Harper delivered some of the best moments in franchise history last postseason. He'll have another opportunity to add to his legacy and do it in front of the home fans.
