Philadelphia Phillies' Young Star Most Indispensable On Roster

In this story:
The Philadelphia Phillies' offense has gotten red hot, living up to the expectations that the lineup had before the season started. After acquiring shortstop Trea Tuner in free agency, they got off to a slow start amidst the struggles of their big named players.
August has shown that this team is finding their groove, ranking in the top five of the most important offensive categories across the league.
With many star players to point at for their role in turning things around, it's the young Phillies star that former MLB front office executive Jim Bowden thinks is the most indispensable player on the roster.
After being selected in the first round during the 2019 MLB Draft, Bryson Stott made his debut last season. He has turned into one of the best hitters on the team despite being under-the-radar next to his superstar teammates.
Bowden writes for The Athletic, "In the offseason, the Phillies wrote Trea Turner a check for $300 million and told Stott he was moving to second base. Stott embraced the new full-time position and got to work with infield coach Bobby Dickerson. In addition, he worked with hitting coach Kevin Long to improve his offensive game."
The second baseman is hitting .296/.342/.443 through 122 games this season. He already has the most home runs and RBI he's hit in a season with 13 and 53 respectively.
Bowden continues, saying, "He might not have made the All-Star team this year but he’s certainly played like one, producing 4.2 WAR. His competitiveness, grit and passion are contagious, too."
While Stott might be under-the-radar right now, if he continues to produce when the postseason roles around, he'll be a household name just like his well known teammates.
