Texas Rangers Want Creed Singalong for Fans Coming to ALDS, Globe Life Field

Texas Rangers public address announcer Chuck Morgan acknowledged the players want Creed to be played at home during the ALDS for fans to sing along.

“Are you ready?”

To sing, that is. The Creed phenomenon with the Texas Rangers may never reach the level of “claw and antlers,” but when it comes to crowd participation, nothing may touch Game 3 of the American League Division Series at Globe Life Park.

A request has been made – seemingly by the Rangers themselves – to do a Creed singalong Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. There’s a spot in the AL Championship Series on the line this week, as Texas leads the best-of-five 2-0 with the next two games at home.

Word broke on Sunday before the Rangers beat Baltimore 11-8 to take the commanding lead that Creed has been playing in the clubhouse (and everywhere else) as a way to lighten the load during the dog days of the season.

Apparently, the brooding vocals of Scott Stapp brought some much-needed levity when guys might have been down. And now it’s a thing.

Yes, baseball players are superstitious.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy and rookie Evan Carter were both asked about Creed on Monday, as the team regrouped during a day off. Andrew Heaney, who initially spilled the beans about the band, said he wanted Creed played in their ballpark as some point during this series.

Longtime baseball reporter Dave Sessions challenged Rangers public address announcer Chuck Morgan to “Make it happen” on X, formerly Twitter.

Morgan replied that the request for Creed to be played for the masses wasn’t for pregame, but during the game because the players want the fans to sing their little hearts out.

“Higher,” “With Arms Wide Open,” “One Last Breath” and “My Sacrifice” are the Grammy-winning group’s four biggest hits. Carter said that “One Last Breath” is his favorite, especially since he’s heard it so much.

Morgan didn’t indicate which song would be played – if one gets played. The circumstances of the game and score will likely play a part in any crowd sing song.

Creed, for their part, are all in. “Let’s go Rangers,” the band posted on X, “let’s go!”
