Rangers Shortstop Prospect Acuna Extends On-Base Streak at Frisco

The Triple-A Round Rock Express were facing El Paso, the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders were facing Wichita, the High Class-A Hickory Crawdads were taking on Hudson Valley, Class-A Down East faced Fayetteville and the Arizona Complex League Rangers faced the ACL Padres.

Here are the results of the Texas Rangers' minor leagues games for Tuesday, July 25.
Triple-A Round Rock
Round Rock lost to El Paso, 5-2. 2B Diosbel Arias (1-for-3) led off the 2nd inning with a single and moved to third on a double from C Matt Whatley (1-for-3, 2B). CF Bubba Thompson (1-for-3, BB, RBI) drove in Arias for a 1-0 lead and recorded his 13th RBI of the season. The Chihuahuas plated a trio in the bottom half of the inning before getting to last week’s PCL Pitcher of the Week RHP Cole Winn (3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R-ER, 4 BB, 3 SO). 1B Blaine Crim’s (0-for-4, RBI) RBI groundout accounted for other run of the contest, while RF Elier Hernandez (1-for-4) is now at 101 hits this season (2nd most in PCL). RHP Chase Lee (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R-ER, 0 BB, 2 SO) posted the team’s lone scoreless outing with 2 punchouts in the 8th frame.
Double-A Frisco
Frisco (12-10, 43-47, 3rd, 2.0 GB) scored a season-high 9 runs in the 1st inning to blow past Wichita, 10-4. SS Luisangel Acuña (3-for-5, RBI) extended his on-base streak to 22 games with a single in opening frame. His .308 AVG ranks 4th in the TL and his 39 SB lead the league. LF Trevor Hauver (3-for-5, 2 2B, 3B, RBI) recorded 3 XBH for the first time in his career. DH Liam Hicks (3-for-5, RBI) also collected 3 hits and extended his hit streak to 7 games (11-for-26, 6 RBI). In the start, RHP Aidan Anderson (3.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R-ER, 6 SO) struck out a career-high 6 batters, while RHP Tristen Polley (W, 2.0 IP, 3 H, 3 R-ER,1 BB, 3 SO) earned the win despite allowing 3 runs.
High Class-A Hickory
Hickory (17-7, 44-41, 1st, +4.5 GA) lost to Hudson Valley, 16-5, but SS Cam Cauley (2-for-4, 2 HR, 4 RBI) recorded his first career multi-homer game. It was Hickory’s largest margin of defeat this season, as RHP Winston Santos (L, 3.1 IP, 8 H, 7 R-ER, 0 BB, 3 SO) gave up a trio of long balls and was rocked for a season-high 7 R-ER. 3B Keyber Rodriguez (2-for-4) finished with a pair of hits to snap an 0-for-14 skid. DH Abimelec Ortiz (1-for-4) reached on a single and is slashing .331/.388/.713/1.101 in 43 G with the Crawdads this season, and leads the South Atlantic League in 3B (3), HR (9), RBI (23) over the last 30 days. RHP Ricky DeVito (1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R-ER, 1 BB, 2 SO) retired 4 of 6 BF and had the only scoreless outing.
Low Class-A Down East
Down East (11-14, 48-38, 5th, 3.5 GB) lost to Fayetteville in 10 innings, 3-2. 1B Yenci Pena (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) recorded the Woodies lone RBI on a double in the 7th frame to even the game at 2. The swing drove home DH Konner Piotto (1-for-4) who has hits in 4 of his last 6 games. RF Zion Bannister (2-for-4) led the way with a pair of hits. RHP Dylan MacLean (3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R-ER, 4 BB, 3 SO) and RHP DJ McCarty (5.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R-ER, 1 BB, 2 SO) combined to allow just 2 R-ER across 8.0 innings of work.
ACL Rangers
The ACL Rangers (15-20, 5th, 8.0 GB) lost to the ACL Padres, 9-4. 2B Echedry Vargas (1-for-4, RBI) tallied the Rangers’ lone RBI. LF Jose De Jesus (2-for-4, 2B) and CF Edgar Basabe (1-for-3, 2B) each notched an XBH. SS Sebastain Walcott (0-for-3, BB) reached on a walk and is 28-for-84 (.333) with 13 XBH and 14 RBI through 20 G. LHP Thomas Ireland (4.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO) punched out 5 batters in 4.0 IP, and has a season ERA of 1.27 (3 ER/21.1 IP) to lead the staff.
