Texas Rangers pitching prospect Owen White continues to put together quality outings for the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders even though he ended up with a no-decision in a 9-7 loss to Amarillo on Tuesday.

White was coming off his first win last week. Against the Sod Poodles, White had his first quality start of the season, going six innings and shutting out Amarillo for the first five innings.

White gave up just one run in the sixth inning and pitched to the first two hitters of the seventh, who both reached base. At that point, the Riders reached into the bullpen. The Sod Poodles scored six runs in the inning and White left with a no-decision.

White gave up five hits, three earned run and a walk. He struck out four and while he threw his longest outing of the season, his ERA went up to 2.89.

White was coming off an outing last week in which he went five innings against the Arkansas Travelers, giving up giving up three runs (all earned), six hits and three walks. He also struck out three.

White is 1-0 through four starts, with 12 strikeouts and seven walks. Batters are hitting .200 against him and he has a WHIP of 1.07.

White is the Rangers’ No. 3 overall prospect per MLB.com.

White pitched at High Class-A Hickory and Frisco last season, going 9-2 with a 3.59 ERA in 15 appearances (14 starts). He struck out 104, walked 23 and had an opponent batting average of .233.

The Rangers drafted White out of high school in 2018 and paid $1.5 million to sign the second-round pick.
