Texas Rangers Prospect Jack Leiter Sets Career High

In this story:
Jack Leiter wrapped up the best three-start stretch of his career with a career-high 10 strikeouts in a Double-A Frisco's victory over Amarillo on Wednesday.
The RoughRiders won the game 10-4, with Leiter looking sharp.
Leiter (2-2) carried a shutout into the sixth inning before allowing a pair of singles and a home run. He allowed just four hits and three runs in six innings. He has now struck out 54 batters in 37 innings this season.
After a rough start to the season, his last three starts have shown what Leiter is capable of on the mound.
Against Midland on May 5, Leiter went six innings, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out seven in claiming his first victory of the season.
He built on that against Wichita on May 11, going five innings, giving up two hits and a run while walking two. He also struck out eight, which at the time was a season high.
Leiter has a 1.59 ERA for the month of May and has trimmed his ERA by nearly a point to 4.38 this season.
Leiter is the Texas Rangers’ No. 4 overall prospect, per MLB.com.
Leiter made five starts in the month of April and was up-and-down. He went 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA, striking out 29 and walking 15. He gave up 22 hits and 15 runs, all of which were earned.
Leiter was the Rangers’ first-round pick in 2021 (No. 2 overall) and went 3-10 with a 5.54 ERA in 23 games (22 starts) at Frisco in his first professional season. He struck out 109 and walked 56 while opponents batted .246 against him. He played in the MLB Futures Game at Dodger Stadium last July.
