Patrick Bailey ripped a two-run, walk-off home run to the left-field corner to lift the San Francisco Giants over the Texas Rangers 3-2 in 10 innings Sunday afternoon at Oracle Park.

The Rangers rallied with a run in the ninth to force extra innings and then took the lead in the 10th before Bailey's two-out game-winner on a 1-1 pitch against closer Will Smith.

"I saw a pitch that got away from him, I'm sure he didn't want to put it there," Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. "Hard-fought game, good comeback by our guys."

The (70-48) remained 2 1/2 games ahead of the Houston Astros, who lost to the Los Angeles Angels, atop the AL West.

Ezequiel Duran scored a go-ahead run on a balk in the top of the 10th inning.

The Rangers trailed 1-0 and down to their final out when J.P. Martinez doubled in the ninth. Martinez scored from second base on Ezequiel Duran's infield single to the hole between shortstop and third base.

That tied the score at 1-1.

Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to send it to the 10th.

Duran started the 10th on second base for the Rangers and moved to third on Josh Smith's bloop single to shallow center field. With Marcus Semien at the plate, Giants' right-hander Camilo Doval was called for the balk.

Giants 3, Rangers 2 (10)

Here are the top moments from the Rangers-Giants series finale on Sunday:

Dane Dunning

Dane Dunning struck out a career-high 12 batters in seven innings Sunday. This performance comes after he struck out a previous career-high 11 White Sox on Aug. 2.

The 12 strikeouts match Nathan Eovaldi and Jon Gray for the Rangers' season-high. Eovaldi struck out 12 Athletics on May 11 and Jon Gray struck out 12 Cardinals on June 7.

Dunning allowed one run (a solo homer in the first inning) on seven hits and no walks. He did not factor in the decision.

Extra-Inning Bummers

The Rangers played their sixth extra-inning game in 2023. They are now 2-4 in extra-inning games, including 1-1 at home and 1-3 on the road.

J.P. Martinez Off and Running

Outfielder J.P. Martinez made his MLB debut on Friday and is off to a fast start. He's 4 for 11 in his first three games, including a two-out double in the ninth inning Sunday. He scored from second base on Ezequiel Duran's infield single to tie the game.

Up Next

The Rangers open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels at 7:05 p.m. Monday at Globe Life Field. Right-hander Max Scherzer (11-4, 3.88) makes his third start for Texas against an Angels' starter to be announced.
