Adolis García has been a highly productive player for the Texas Rangers this season. Will that production earn him an invitation to the All-Star Game Home Run Derby next month?

The pool of players for the Derby hasn’t been selected yet, but MLB.com put together a list of the best candidates from each team and chose García for the Rangers.

He’s been one of the top home run hitters in the Majors this season. After the Rangers’ 4-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jay, García has 15 home runs, putting him among the Top 10 home run hitters in the American League.

He’s been a consistent producer of long balls since he got his first full season in the MLB in 2021. He hammered 31 homers as a rookie in 2021 to earn his first All-Star Game selection. He hit 27 homers last season.

Despite his numbers, García didn’t compete in the 2021 Home Run Derby. Former Rangers slugger Joey Gallo was selected and lost in the first round to the Colorado Rockies’ Trevor Story.

Rangers shortstop Corey Seager competed in last season's Derby at his former home, Dodger Stadium. He lost in the first round to Seattle’s Julio Rodríguez, 32-24. The other six players in the first round didn’t match Seager’s 24 homers.

The Rangers have not won a Home Run Derby since 1993 when Juan González claimed the title at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

No, Josh Hamilton didn't win it in 2008 at Yankee Stadium despite hitting a record 28 homers in the first round. He eventually lost in the final to the Minnesota Twins' Justin Morneau, despite hitting 13 more total homers.
