Red Sox Legend Blasts Yankees After Rival's Tumultuous Season Continues

In this story:
The Boston Red Sox certainly have surprised people so far this season.
Boston entered the 2023 campaign with low expectations. The Red Sox were expected by many to finish at the bottom of the American League East standings and potentially also below .500. There's still time left in the season but the Red Sox currently are 63-56 and look like a potential playoff team this year.
On the contrary, one team that entered the 2023 season with high expectations but hasn't lived up to the hype has been the New York Yankees. New York has dealt with a plethora of injuries this season which has played a major part in the club's current last place standing in the American League East standings. Although this is the case, the Yankees have started to get healthier recently with Aaron Judge returning but have lost four straight games and now sit at 60-60.
Red Sox legend and Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez had plenty to say about the Yankees' after their most recent defeat at the hands of the Atlanta Braves.
"It's unbelievable, it's hard to watch the Yankees go that way," Martinez said. "I remember watching the Yankees early in the season and when things were going well, they looked so confident. It was like watching a bulldog beat up on a chihuahua when they were playing those teams. Now they look like the chihuahua to any other team, especially a good team like the Braves. It looks like no match."
The Yankees at one point looked like they would be contenders for a World Series title this season but now that doesn't appear to be the case anymore. New York is 3-7 over its last 10 games and now is six-and-a-half games out of an American League Wild Card spot. At this rate, it appears the Red Sox will top their rival this year.
