Red Sox Reportedly Attended Private Workout For Young Fireballer; Could Move Be Imminent?

In this story:
The Boston Red Sox need to add pitching help this offseason and it sounds like they are looking all over to do so.
Boston -- like many clubs -- needs to improve the starting rotation this offseason. The Red Sox have been mentioned as one of the most active teams this offseason and are among a handful of teams looking for at least two starters. Boston also could use at least one or two more relief pitchers to add to the fold.
There is going to be stiff competition across the baseball world for pitching this offseason and the Red Sox seemingly are going to be involved with almost everyone. One intriguing player Boston reportedly has scouted is Cuban fireballer Yariel Rodríguez, according to MLB.com's Francys Romero.
"Cuban (right-handed pitcher) Yariel Rodríguez (26) did a private workout today for the Boston Red Sox and the San Diego Padres in the Dominican Republic, per sources," Romero said. "The right-hander and free agent threw two innings."
Rodríguez is an interesting name to look out for this offseason. He is just 26 years old and is looking to make the jump to the big leagues this offseason. Rodríguez spent the last three seasons with the Chunichi Dragons of the Nippon Professional Baseball league and compiled a 3.03 ERA across 79 appearances. He attempted to make the jump to the big leagues ahead of the 2023 season but was unable as the Dragons stated his contract was still valid after he attempted to leave.
The young flamethrower has spent time as a starting pitcher and as a reliever throughout his young career so far. It's unclear exactly what role he will play in the big leagues, but it sounds like the Red Sox have some interest in a move.
