Report: Braves Favorites to Sign Former Reds Starting Pitcher Sonny Gray

MLB free agency is underway and one former Red could land with a National League contender

CINCINNATI — Former Reds starting pitcher Sonny Gray could return to the National League after spending the past two seasons in Minnesota.

Jon Morosi says Gray could end up in Atlanta. The Braves were also in talks with Aaron Nola before he agreed to a new deal with Philadelphia.

"The Braves are one of the top suitors for free agent Sonny Gray," Morosi tweeted. "Atlanta had spoken with Aaron Nola’s camp before Nola returned to the Phillies."

Gray spent three seasons in Cincinnati (2019-21). The Reds traded him to the Twins in exchange for minor league prospect Chase Petty.

There was some speculation about a potential reunion, but Gray may be out of Cincinnati's desired price range.
