After MLB disciplined the Houston Astros for using a center field camera to decode and communicate opponents’ pitching signs during their 2017 championship run, New York Mets manager Carlos Beltrán has reportedly resigned before managing a single game in Flushing. He becomes the third manager to lose his job as part of the ensuing fallout joining A.J. Hinch and Alex Cora. Beltrán was a member of the Astros’ championship team and the only player named in MLB commissioner Rob Manfred’s report. He was announced as the Mets manager on November 1 after the club fired Mickey Callaway at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
