On March 9, 2021 the 2021 World Baseball Classic is scheduled to begin. With league play currently suspended due to concerns of the coronavirus, MLB players are already planning ahead. Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman used social media to recruit stars from Major League Baseball with the hope of putting together a Team USA “Dream Team.” Eric Hosmer, Christian Yelich, Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, Cody Bellinger, and Aaron Judge were all contacted by Stroman to make the “Dream Team” a reality. The recruitment began taking a life of its own once other MLB stars shared the excitement to join the team. Team USA won the 2017 title and will hope to defend that crown in 2021, with the games being held in Taiwan, Japan.
