Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred is not confident there will be baseball this season. And MLB players are clearly not confident in him as many took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.

Sports Illustrated host Robin Lundberg talked with Jimmy Traina about the current state of the game, MLB players weighing in on social media and whether the outrage is appropriate to the situation. That in today's edition of Traina Thoughts.

Read the full video transcript:

Robin Lundberg: Let's check in on Major League Baseball. Not good, Bob or Rob Manfred, that is. For more, I'm joined by our Jimmy Traina. And Jimmy, the situation in Major League Baseball has gotten ugly with the players themselves mocking the sports commissioner.

Jimmy Traina: Yeah. For people like us who are starving for content and these days, with no games, MLB players going on Twitter and ripping their own commissioner, it's pretty gold for us. You know, it ranged from people just out now talking about Rob Manfred hating baseball and ruining the game to some players like Noah Syndergaard going with very funny gifs. A lot of frustration about the negotiations and the owners side not negotiating in good faith. So the players, after Manfred said unequivocally there would be a season and then saying he's not confident there would be a season a week later. The players unloaded on Twitter on Monday.

Robin Lundberg: Do you think fans are following the back and forth? And, you know, getting themselves familiarized with each side of this argument or they just turned off completely that this is the conversations baseball is having in these times? [00:01:10][11.2]

Jimmy Traina: I think some diehard fans are following the ins and outs of it all. And I think most fans just see that, you know, it's billionaire owners and millionaire players and they're not playing. And I think the outrage is myself personally, a little phony and over the top. But, you know, it's just people on Twitter want to be angry. You know, I've seen tweets about, you know, baseball is the national pastime, they've let America down. I mean, get a grip. First of all, football is the national pastime now. And, you know, if you think people are outraged, they might not be a baseball season. See what happens when there's no football season. So let's relax with the baseball is Americana. You know, our lives are just going to be devastated without a Major League Baseball season in 2020. I think we'll get on just fine.

Robin Lundberg: But Jimmy, the typical sports talk radio guy, needs something to yell about, right?

Jimmy Traina: Well, they can argue about, you know, whether there should be fans in the stands when the NFL season opens up or something like that.

Robin Lundberg: Jimmy, we appreciate your time, as always. Anytime.
