Padres Tommy Pham is in good condition after being stabbed and undergoing surgery this past weekend. The team and player shared on Monday that the outfielder was injured in an altercation Sunday night in San Diego and was stabbed in his lower back. According to people who spoke with Pham, he was leaving an establishment when the incident happened during an argument near his car. Pham was reportedly attacked after asking the strangers involved in the argument to get away from his vehicle.

Luckily no organs were damaged in the attack. Pham shared in a statement his appreciation for the medical staff at UC San Diego Health and the San Diego Police Department. He also shared that, “I’m on the road to recovery and I know I’ll be back to my offseason training routine in no time.” The incident happened just 3 days after the Padres were defeated in the NLDS by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pham played in all 3 games- having 3 hits in 11 at-bats.
