J.D. Martinez had a down season for the Red Sox in 2020. Sports Illustrated senior writer Tom Verducci says that COVID-19 protocols put into place last season could've been a factor in that downturn. Martinez is a hitter that likes to review film after at-bats, and the protocols of last season limited his ability to review his at-bats during games. This season, however, tablets will be available in dugouts for players to stay on top of their adjustments - meaning Martinez could have a bounce back season in 2021.
