Brewers Showing Interest in Former MVP, Failed New York Yankees Third Baseman

It sounds like someone could take a chance on him.
The New York Yankees released third baseman Josh Donaldson on Tuesday, thus eating the remainder of the money that they owe him ($3.8 million). He is now drawing interest from the Milwaukee Brewers, according to Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic.
According to Rosenthal, the Brewers or any team that signs Donaldson will only owe him the pro-rated share of the minimum salary. The Yankees paid the 37-year-old $21 million the past two seasons.
Donaldson must sign with a team before Friday or else he won't be eligible for the postseason.
The Brewers are looking at Donaldson because their own third baseman Andruw Monasterio has struggled in the month of August with a .590 OPS.
Donaldson is said to be fully healed from a calf injury that landed him on the 60-day injured list with the Yankees in July. He wouldn't have been eligible to return from the IL until mid-September if he stayed with the Yankees. New York has also prioritized a youth movement the rest of the way by calling up a number of top prospects to play every day. For that, there would have been minimal playing time for Donaldson.
Donaldson, a former MVP winner, saw his skills greatly diminish as soon as he arrived in the Bronx prior to the 2022 season. The Brewers or whoever scoops him up will be hoping they could squeeze some last bit of production out of the aging veteran.
In two seasons with the Yankees, Donaldson hit an anemic .207/.293/.385 to go along with 25 home runs and 77 RBIs.
