UFC 248 ended with a lot of controversy and then Dana White did not make things any better with his post-match press conference regarding Yoel Romero. Sports Illustrated’s Bill Enright caught up with Yoel who was power eating.

At only a week out from the fight Romero says, “My body’s great, thank God nothing happened.”

When Dana White came out and said that it was a boring fight and it was his last shot as a championship and that he shouldn't even be getting in that fight, Romero said Israel was running away from him.

“Everybody sees the truth. What’s true is the champion didn’t want to fight with me. He want to fight with me, but he can feel my power, he don’t want to fight, he want to run.” He claims he was in the middle of the ring for most of the bout, goading him to fight.

At 42, how long can Romero expect to be fighting?

“You see, my body’s ok, my body’s great, my stamina is great,” he says. “I’m fast, I have power. Look at the champ, he look ridiculous!” According to Romero, it’s not your age, it’s how you feel and he feels ready to fight.
