NFL Rookie Watch

Shaquille O'Neal, who is on the cover of NBA 2K7, had a big hand in developing the game. "We made sure we got the details down," Shaq says, "right down to LeBron biting his finger nails."

New Jersey Nets rookie Marcus Williams got his first taste of virtual NBA play. He warmed up for the NBA 2K7 Tournament by playing Nets vs. Suns against a friend. Williams teamed his electronic alter ego with Jason Kidd and Vince Carter for the win.

Kings guard Quincy Douby hopes things will go a little more smoothly during his rookie year than they did during the 2K7 tournament. He led the Big East in scoring playing for Rutgers last season, but he went out in the first round.

It ended up being a big night for the Knicks. Teammates Quentin Richardson and Channing Frye warmed up by doing battle on one of the big screens.

You wouldn't know Shaq was the game's cover boy by watching him play. The Diesel went out in the tournament's first round. Shaq might have been better-suited playing an old-school game "When I was in college, Double Dribble [for Nintendo] was the game. We played that all the time."

Second-year Knicks guard Nate Robinson is a talented gamer, and he loves to talk about it. The 2006 Slam Dunk Champion played -- and trash talked -- his way into the 2K7 Tournament final.

Knicks swingman Quentin Richardson did his best work off the bench. He was eliminated early in the tournament. But when finals participant Marcus Williams had to leave before the last game, Richardson was called in to sub against a familiar foe. "I play online all the time with Nate," Richardson says. And it showed, as Q beat Robinson for the title.

To the victor go the spoils. Richardson got to present the $5,000 check to the NBA Cares charity KaBoom! The organization builds playscapes for kids across the country.
