Could Pistons move to Pittsburgh?

The Detroit Pistons could be sold. Pittsburgh has a new arena, with a lot of dates to fill between Penguins games. Can the Pittsburgh Pistons be far behind? Don't count on it. But that hasn't stopped speculation about the potential for the Pistons to move to Pittsburgh, a city littered with the carcasses of professional basketball teams that came and failed. It started with Detroit Free Press columnist Drew Sharp, who warned in a Jan. 23 column that there is a possibility that a buyer of the Pistons, the National Basketball Association franchise, could move them elsewhere. Cowher denies waiting for Giants job

Bill Cowher can see himself coaching once again. He just doesn't know where. And he doesn't know when. Despite what Jerome Bettis has said. Bettis, who was Cowher's running back from 1996 through the Steelers' Super Bowl season in 2005, said recently he believes Cowher is holding out for the Giants' job that currently belongs to Tom Coughlin and is waiting for that spot to open before returning to the NFL as a coach. Tuesday, during a press conference for CBS in advance of the network's televising Super Bowl XLIV this Sunday, Cowher said Bettis was simply throwing darts with his comments. Padres more likely to trade Gonzalez

With chatter increasing that the Twins and catcher Joe Mauer are close to striking a long-term agreement, the odds of a similar deal for another Red Sox object of interest -- Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez -- grow longer. In an interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, Padres CEO Jeff Moorad did not sound optimistic about the team's ability to retain Gonzalez, who can become a free agent after the 2011 season. The Padres are expected to entertain serious trade offers by the July 31 deadline. (Boston Herald)Comment
