Though he had been hot on Dario Franchitti's heels during the race, Ryan Briscoe was knocked out of the running after a crash in turn four.

Cruising At Top Speed

Sunday's race clocked in an average speed of 161.623 mph and became the 13th Indy 500 to end on a caution.

Chip Ganassi made history, becoming the first North American team owner to win both the Indy 500 (Dario Franchitti) and Daytona 500 (Jamie McMurray) in the same year.

Mike Conway's car went airborne after a bump with Ryan Hunter-Reay's. Conway flew into the catch fence before flipping back on to the track. He suffered a broken leg.

Though Conway escaped the destroyed vehicle with only a broken leg and minor scratches, he is expected to be out for at least three months.

Scott Dixon, who claimed Indy 500 glory in 2008, finished fifth in Sunday's race.
