Cowboys' Bennett backs Kitna at QB
Count Martellus Bennett among at least one member of the Cowboys who believes Tony Romo should earn back his starting job. The Cowboys went 1-5 when Romo started last season. They won four of nine games started by 38-year-old backup Jon Kitna after Romo suffered a broken collarbone, including a stretch of three wins in four games immediately after head coach Wade Phillips was fired and replaced by offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. "I loved playing with Kitna," [Bennett] said. ... "I hope there's a chance for a quarterback competition this year. Every position, I think we need to put more competition into it." Bennett, who has 68 catches for 702 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons since the Cowboys drafted him out of Texas A&M with a second-round pick, added that he thought Romo was "awesome." LeBron, Spoelstra finding bromance?
Any tension between LeBron James and Erik Spoelstra seems lately to have cooled. The telling moments have been easy to miss. The quickly shared smiles on the court. These two men finishing each other's sentences, so much so that those around them lift their eyebrows in surprise. The coalescing -- the trust -- borne out of so much turmoil. Somehow, someway, [James] and [Spoelstra] have formed a sudden and important bond. Somehow, someway, the young head coach many doubted could coach LeBron and the young superstar many doubted could be coached by him have developed a rapport and comfort with one another well worth noting. ... Stanton out longer than expected
Mike Stanton took batting practice Tuesday, reportedly smashing several balls into the stands, but he isn't likely to see so much as pinch hitting in the immediate future. Stanton, who was removed from Friday's opener after six innings, was dealing with some tightness in his left hamstring. After he got an MRI on Monday, the Marlins learned that Stanton suffered a mild strain to his left hamstring. Manager Edwin Rodriguez does not expect Stanton to rejoin the lineup until at least this weekend's series against the Astros. "He's going to be able to pinch hit but he's not going to be able to run," Rodriguez said. "He's at 65 or 70 percent right now, so for the next three or four days he might be able to pinch hit, and then probably for the weekend he might take the field." (FOXSportsFlorida.com)Comment
