American Idol's Jordin Sparks sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XLII. American Idol's Jennifer Hudson sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XLIII. American Idol's Carrie Underwood sang the national anthem at Super XLIV. The A.I. streak then ended when Christina Aguilera sang the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV, but she went and screwed the thing up. So what does the NFL do this year? You got it. Right back to American Idol. It was announced today that Kelly Clarkson will take on the Star-Spangled Banner at Super Bowl XLVI. Nothing against Clarkson, who has a great voice. Plus, who doesn't like Since You Been Gone? But how about the NFL thinks outside the box for a change so we have a chance to get an all-time classic moment like this?

Blame Christina

On Monday, Hot Clicks told you about Kings forward Dustin Penner injuring his back while eating pancakes his wife made him. On Tuesday, Hot Clicks alerted you that said wife who made said pancakes was smokin' hot. Today, we have Penner addressing Pancakegate and making a pitch to get an endorsement deal with Denny's or IHOP.

Full disclosure. I love Magic Johnson. He was my favorite non-New York Knicks player to watch when I was a kid. He had Howard Stern on his talk show after Stern repeatedly destroyed him, and let members of Stern's crew use their buttocks as an instrument during the playing of a song. However, if I'm being honest, after seeing this clip from last night, ESPN should never let Magic Johnson do game highlights ever again. (It was a rough day all around for ESPN personalities, as proven here.)
