Tick-tock. The expiration date on owner James Dolan's recent vote of confidence for coach Mike Woodson is approaching, according to sources. While Woodson will coach the Knicks when they play the Nets on Thursday, it is unclear how much longer Dolan will allow this losing streak to go on. It has reached nine straight defeats and the team's mental instability has become an issue. Dolan is obsessed with the Brooklyn franchise and a blowout loss could trigger changes -- whether via trade or a coaching move. ... The Post has also learned that if Dolan eventually makes a move, old enemy and ex-Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy would not be ruled out as a future candidate -- though such a hire seems more sensible in the offseason if Dolan goes with an interim coach. Akers survives 'Kickalicious' tryout
At least for another week, David Akers can breathe a sigh of relief. The Lions did work out kickers on Monday, including Havard "Kickalicious" Rugland, but it was not in response to [Akers] missing a 31-yard field goal attempt against the Packers. The workout session had been planned prior to the Packers game, and Lions coach Jim Schwartz expressed confidence in Akers after the game. "I told him at halftime that if we needed a game-winner, we're going to put him right back out; we're not going for it on fourth down," Schwartz said. "I just think he tried to baby that one a little bit." ... Rugland, self-titled "Kickalicious," was in training camp with the Lions and was among at least three kickers the team worked out Monday. Mixed martial arts fans have been well aware of the heated rivalry between UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate for years, but the rivalry took center stage on the previous season of The Ultimate Fighter. In the past, most of the attention was on Rousey and the comments that she would make about her relationship with Tate, but Tate finally feels that she got her side of the story across and that people are beginning to understand her more after watching the latest season of TUF.
