Kent, Ohio > Soccer

Kayla, a freshman forward at Roosevelt High, scored all the Rough Riders' goals in her varsity debut, leading the team to a 6-3 win over Highland High. She has 22 goals in nine games through Sunday, a single-season school record. Kayla, who also competes for Everest Soccer Club, was named to the Olympic development pool regional team in August.

. Stefan Mickol

Rochester, N.Y. > Volleyball

Stefan, a 5-foot-6 junior setter at Brighton High, won his third straight national junior beach tour championship, pairing with Max Szuba to take the boys' 16-and-under open division in Milwaukee. Stefan helped Brighton win its first sectional crown as a freshman and led his club team, Victor Volleyball Club, to fifth at junior nationals last year.

. Rio Watanabe

Kamagaya City, Japan > Golf

Watanabe, a redshirt freshman at Ohio State, shot a one-over 217 to win her collegiate debut by one stroke, beating a field of 60 at the Chip-N Club Invitational at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb., and led the Buckeyes to the team title. Last year, Watanabe finished second in the 2013 Victorian Junior Open in Cheltenham, Australia.

. Maddie O'Reilly

Villanova, Pa. > Water Polo

Maddie, a sophomore left-handed attacker at the Episcopal Academy in Newtown Square, scored 10 goals in a 19-13 win over Germantown Academy. A member of the cadet national team, she helped the Greenwich (Conn.) Aquatics Club to 15th place -- the highest finish for a non-California team -- in the Junior Olympics U-16 division in July.
