NBA Trade Roundup
Mavericks-Wizards Deal
In the first major trade before the deadline, the Mavericks made good on their promise to shake up a team that had been struggling. Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood immediately stepped into the starting lineup. Meanwhile, the Wizards launched a rebuilding plan that would continue with the trade of Antawn Jamison to Cleveland.
Wizards-Cavaliers-Clippers
After multiple reports said the Cavaliers were targeting the Suns' Amar'e Stoudemire, Cleveland changed course and agreed to a three-team trade for Wizards forward Antawn Jamison. The deal gives LeBron and the Cavs a player who has career averages of 19.9 points and 8.1 rebounds.
Kings-Rockets-Knicks
All three teams got value: By unloading Jared Jeffries, the Knicks cleared enough cap space to recruit two elite free agents this summer. The Rockets acquired a 20-point scorer at shooting guard in Kevin Martin, a rookie lottery prospect in Jordan Hill, New York's No. 1 pick in 2012 (which is protected if in the top five) and the right to swap first-round picks with the Knicks next year, unless that pick turns out to be No. 1 overall. And the Kings landed Sixth Man Award candidate Carl Landry to help round out their young, promising frontcourt.
Clippers-Trail Blazers
Marcus Camby provides much-needed help for the Blazers, who have lost centers Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla to season-ending injuries. The price was two solid reserves in Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw.
Bobcats-Bulls
The Bobcats hope they have addressed their frontcourt need by acquiring Tyrus Thomas, a talented but inconsistent forward who wore out his welcome in Chicago. Along with well-traveled reserve guards Flip Murray and Acie Law, the Bulls also picked up a conditional first-round pick in the deal.
Bucks-Bulls
By trading starter-turned-reserve John Salmons, who has a $5.8 million player option for next season, the Bulls cleared up even more cap room for this summer's free-agent market. Chicago received two players with expiring deals in Hakim Warrick (10.2 ppg) and first-round disappointment Joe Alexander, while the Bucks obtained two second-round picks and also have the right to swap first-round picks this year as long as the Bulls' pick is outside the top 10.
Celtics-Knicks
The Celtics' search for a backup point guard led them to Nate Robinson, who spent December in Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni's doghouse but is averaging better than 14 points a game since then.
Jazz-Grizzlies
The Jazz sent Ronnie Brewer to the Grizzlies for a protected first-round pick in 2011. Brewer, the 14th pick in the 2006 draft, has started every game for Utah this season, but his scoring average has slipped to 9.5, down from last season's 13.7. Nevertheless, he should help the Grizzlies' weak bench.
Knicks-Timberwolves
Darko Milicic, the No. 2 pick in the 2003 draft, is joining his fifth team after being sent to Minnesota for Brian Cardinal and his expiring contract. Milicic has said he plans to return to Europe next season, but the Timberwolves are expected to give him plenty of playing time at center in hopes that he'll produce and consider sticking around.
76ers-Bucks
The Bucks also received a second-round pick in this four-player trade involving seldom-used reserves. Jodie Meeks, a rookie from Kentucky, is averaging 4.1 points.
