Raptors' rookie Ross builds Slam Dunk Contest case with pair of jams

Raptors rookie guard Terrence Ross has wasted little time getting his name onto the list of best young leapers in the NBA. The No. 8 pick in the 2012 Draft drove that point home during a Friday win over the Magic, throwing down a pair of high-flying dunks that had his teammates -- Quincy Acy and DeMar DeRozan -- campaigning on Twitter on his behalf for a spot in this year's Slam Dunk Contest.

The first dunk, seen above, is Ross in his purest form. Raptors forward Ed Davis misses an attempt in the paint and Ross flies in from the weakside out of nowhere, rising quickly over J.J. Redick to toss down a one-hand put-back. It all happened so fast Redick barely had time to blink, let alone find a way to get out of the poster.

Ross' second dunk, which you can see below, was no slouch, either.

Magic guard Jameer Nelson capitulated to double-team pressure on the baseline, throwing a blind pass back out towards the perimeter. Ross stepped in like a defensive back taking off with a pick-six, dodging Redick as he corralled the steal. The rest was history: Ross uncorked a one-hand windmill dunk in the open court. Ross, 21, finished with 13 points, one rebound, two steals and one block on five-for-eight shooting in 23 minutes off of the bench. DeRozan finished with a team-high 17 points in Toronto's fifth straight win. Arron Afflalo led the Magic with a game-high 26 points.
