MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves scratched point guard Ricky Rubio and forward Kevin Love from their game against Portland on Saturday night.

Rubio has back spasms that caused him to miss the previous three games. Love sprained a finger in his right hand during a victory against Denver on Thursday night.

The Timberwolves are being cautious with Rubio, who started experiencing back problems not long after he returned from nine months out because of a knee injury. Coach Rick Adelman has said Rubio may be overcompensating for his recovering knee, which could lead to other issues.

Love missed the first three weeks of the season with a broken right hand, an injury that has hampered his shooting since he returned on Nov. 21.
