PHOENIX (AP) -- The Phoenix Suns have agreed to a new two-year contract for president of basketball operations Lon Babby.

Suns owner Robert Sarver says Babby has his "full support" as the franchise continues to rebuild. The new contract runs through 2015.

The Suns are in the midst of one of the worst seasons in their history, with a 23-51 record that is the worst in the Western Conference.

Babby, a highly successful sports agent for much of his career, has headed the Suns' basketball operations since June 2010.

Babby says he greatly appreciates the faith Sarver has shown as the franchise begins "the heavy lifting" of rebuilding the team, a transition that, in Babby's words, "is often painful."
