Suns guard Eric Bledsoe hit a three-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining to defeat the Jazz 87-84 in Phoenix on Friday night.
Known for his athleticism and explosiveness rather than his range, Bledsoe calmly milked the clock down from the 10-second mark to hit the straight-on three over Gordon Hayward, who had hit a game-tying three on Utah's previous possession. It doesn't get any prettier than this, especially from a career 30.4 percent three-point shooter.
Bledsoe finished with a team-high 18 points (on 4-for-15 shooting), six assists and five rebounds in 28 minutes. The game-winner capped a remarkable fourth quarter for Bledsoe, who scored 17 of his 18 points in the final period, including Phoenix's final 14 points of the game. Second-year center Miles Plumlee added 13 points (on 6-for-11 shooting) and 13 rebounds in 35 minutes.
Jazz center Enes Kanter scored a game-high 20 points (on 8-for-22 shooting) and grabbed 12 rebounds in 38 minutes. Hayward nearly finished with a triple-double: 18 points (on 6-for-17 shooting), 10 rebounds and eight assists in 39 minutes.
Phoenix improved to 2-0 with the win; Utah fell to 0-2.
