Kevin Love politely rejects reporter's post-game query: 'That wasn't a question'

The most important time for a reporter to come correct with his or her post-game questions is after a disappointing loss, as the frustration level runs high, patience is in short supply and words can be hard to come by.

The Timberwolves lost to the Clippers 109-107 in Los Angeles, missing three shots in the game's final three seconds that could have forced overtime. All-Star forward Kevin Love had the third and final opportunity, tapping up a putback attempt at the buzzer that just couldn't find its way over the rim.

That crazy final possession, which also included a Kevin Martin missed jumper and a missed putback from Nikola Pekovic, was naturally the subject of locker room discussion.

"You were able to box out there on that last sequence at least twice, getting two offensive rebounds," a reporter stated, stopping there to allow Love to respond.

Instead, five seconds of silence ensued, as Love's eyes flashed back and forth while his mouth didn't move.

"That wasn't a question," he said finally, after he turned to address the next reporter.

With more cameras in the locker room every year, small exchanges like that no longer fly under the radar, especially when stars are involved. While Russell Westbrook has been known to throw a tantrum or two, which can be grating to watch, Love's befuddled, matter-of-fact reaction actually twisted a tough ending into a humorous moment. Technically speaking, Love probably big-timed the reporter, but this was about as polite and non-confrontational as big-timings go.

Love finished with 23 points (on 8-for-19 shooting), 19 rebounds and seven assists in 39 minutes against the Clippers. Pekovic added 25 points (on 11-for-15 shooting) and 10 rebounds, while Martin scored a game-high 30 points (on 9-for-22 shooting).

Blake Griffin finished with a team-high 25 points (on 11-for-22 shooting), 10 rebounds and five assists. Chris Paul added 21 points (on 7-for-14 shooting) and 11 assists.
