Warriors' Andre Iguodala out indefinitely with a hamstring strain

The Warriors announced Saturday that guard/forward Andre Iguodala has suffered a left hamstring strain. He is listed as out indefinitely.

Iguodala sustained the injury during Golden State's 102-95 road loss to the L.A. Lakers on Friday. An MRI revealed the extent of his injury on Saturday.

With a little more than three minutes remaining in the third quarter and L.A. leading 65-63, Iguodala chased after the ball in transition after committing a turnover on a drive. As he reached forward in an attempt to steal the ball from behind from Nick Young dribbling upcourt, Iguodala came up lame and reached towards the back of his left leg. He exited the game at the 3:21 mark and he did not return.

Iguodala finished with six points (on 1-for-4 shooting), six assists and three rebounds in 28 minutes. He told reporters afterwards that he heard a "pop" as he was injured.

“That’s what I felt, so that’s why I was so concerned,” Iguodala told the Contra Costa Times. “I knew it was something. Normally I can just run it off or it’ll go away. But once I heard it pop, I knew it was serious.”

The nine-year veteran and 2012 All-Star signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Warriors this summer.

Golden State coach Mark Jackson has been dealing with a string of injuries in recent weeks. Starting point guard Stephen Currymissed two games this week with a concussion, reserve point guard Toney Douglas has been sidelined with a leg injury, and backup center Jermaine O'Neal has missed time with minor injuries.

Once Curry is cleared to return, Jackson will likely turn to a starting lineup that includes Curry, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, David Lee and Andrew Bogut. That quintet started down the stretch of the 2012-13 season. Reserve guards Kent Bazemore and Nemanja Nedovic should also get the opportunity to play some portion of Iguodala's minutes during his absence.

Iguodala, 29, is averaging 12.9 points, 6.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game this season.

Golden State (8-5) will host Portland on Saturday night.
