Video: Pelicans' Eric Gordon hits game-winning lay-up to beat Pistons

Pelicans guard Eric Gordon hit a game-winning lay-up with 1.9 seconds remaining to lift New Orleans to a 103-101 road victory over Detroit on Friday.

With less than 10 seconds remaining in the game and the score tied at 101, Gordon worked one-on-one against rookie Kentavious Caldwell-Pope out top. As the clock hit six seconds, Gordon executed a right-to-left crossover before spinning back to his right, gaining a step on his defender as he entered the paint. Gordon jumped from well outside the protected circle, tossing up a running right-handed lay-up over both Caldwell-Pope and Josh Smith. The shot swished home with just under two seconds remaining.

Detroit was unable to call timeout after Gordon's basket, for reasons that remain unclear, and a desperation heave from Brandon Jennings at the buzzer was no good.

Gordon was one of six Pelicans to finish in double figures, tallying 15 points (on 5-for-10 shooting), three rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes. Anthony Morrow scored a team-high 21 points (on 7-for-11 shooting) and added three rebounds off the bench.

Jennings finished with a game-high 28 points (on 7-for-20 shooting) and seven assists. Andre Drummond added 21 points (on 9-for-17 shooting) and 20 rebounds in a losing effort.

New Orleans improved to 17-25 with the win. Detroit dropped to 17-26 with the loss.
