The Dallas Mavericks are close to finalizing a three-year contract for point guard Devin Harris, reports ESPN's Marc Stein.

Harris signed as a free agent with the Mavericks last season, but played in just 40 games due to a nagging toe injury. His play picked up during the playoffs, however, where he posted 11.4 points and 3.9 assists per game.

Harris spent his first four seasons in the league with Dallas, before being traded to the New Jersey Nets. He also spent two seasons with the Utah Jazz and one with the Atlanta Hawks.

Dallas, who recently traded starting point guard José Calderon to the New York Knicks, finished eighth in the conference last season, with a record of 49-33.
