The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James ripped off his jersey sleeves after missing a shot against the New York Knicks.
LeBron James has a message for the NBA.
The four-time MVP has never liked sleeves on NBA jerseys, and he made his feelings clearer Wednesday, ripping apart the sleeves after missing a shot against the Knicks.
James has complained about sleeved NBA jerseys before, most notably after a loss to the San Antonio Spurs two years ago when he was a member of the Heat. The Cavaliers did not wear sleeved jerseys last year.
After missing a three from the left elbow, James ran back down the court pulling at the sleeves until they ripped and hung loosely over his shoulders. Of course, it will take more than a jersey to stop James. Now in his 13th season, James was averaging 22 points, 6.3 assists and 7.8 rebounds per game entering Wednesday. After the game, James said he ripped the sleeves in frustration, but spoke complimentary of the jersey, according toThe Plain Dealer’s Chris Haynes.
The Cavaliers prevailed over the Knicks 96–86 after being down 15 in the first half. James scored a game-high 23 points with five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Knicks rookie Kristaps Porzingis provided New York’s best highlight of the night with his putback dunk over Kevin Love.
Cleveland improved to 4–1 while New York fell to 2–3.
