Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah will undergo shoulder surgery and is expected to miss 4–6 months, the team announced Saturday.

Noah dislocated his left shoulder during Friday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. Noah was fighting for a rebound with JaVale McGee when he sustained the injury. He ran off the floor, screaming in pain while holding his left shoulder.

Noah, a former Defensive Player of the Year honoree, is averaging 4.3 points and 8.8 rebounds for the Bulls this season. He has started only two games in 2015–16, which would be the lowest total of his career.

In his career, Noah has averaged 9.3 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. The team says he is expected to make a full recovery.
