Report: Donald Sterling settles dispute with NBA over Clippers sale
Former Clippers owner Donald Sterling has settled his lawsuit with the NBA over his 2014 sale of the team, according to the Los Angeles Times. Terms of the settlement were not immediately disclosed.
“Donald is pleased with the outcome and is looking forward to focusing on future endeavors,” his attorney, Bobby Samini, told the Times.
Sterling was forced to sell the team to Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer for $2 billion after he was banned from the league for making racially insensitive remarks on a tape released by TMZ.
A federal judge threw out Sterling’s lawsuit against the NBA and commissioner Adam Silver in March, calling it “plainly insufficient.” In the lawsuit, which claimed the league had conspired to remove him as owner, he named David Stern, his wife, Rochelle Stein, and two doctors who said he was not mentally capable of owning the team.
