2023 NBA Playoffs: 76ers’ Second-Round Schedule Scenarios

A look at the schedule scenarios for the 76ers' second-round run.

The Philadelphia 76ers punched their ticket to the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs this past weekend. With a Game 4 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, the Sixers managed to advance to the next round.

Now, the Sixers will sit back and watch the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks battle it out in the first round. The winner of the seven-game series between Boston and Atlanta will go toe-to-toe with the Sixers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Hawks shocked the NBA world when they picked up a win over the Celtics on Friday night. After coming up short twice on the road in Boston with two blowout losses, it seemed the Celtics were primed for a sweep.

Going into Sunday’s Game 4 matchup, the Celtics held a 2-1 lead. Thanks to a combined 62 points from the star duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, the Celtics defeated the Hawks 129-121.

Atlanta will pay a visit to Boston on Tuesday for Game 5. One win for the Celtics allows them to clinch a spot in the second round and draw a seven-game series against the Sixers.

In the event that the Celtics close out the series in five games, the Sixers-Celtics series schedule would begin on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Here’s a look at what the rest of the schedule would be.

  • Game 1: April 29
  • Game 2: May 1
  • Game 3: May 5
  • Game 4: May 7
  • Game 5: May 9
  • Game 6: May 11
  • Game 7: May 14

A gentleman’s sweep isn’t guaranteed for the Celtics. If the Hawks can win Game 5 and stretch the series beyond that, the start of the series would get pushed back a couple of days. Here’s what it would look like if the series goes beyond Game 5.

  • Game 1: May 1
  • Game 2: May 3
  • Game 3: May 5
  • Game 4: May 7
  • Game 5: May 9
  • Game 6: May 11
  • Game 7: May 14

The Celtics and the Hawks are set to play again on Tuesday, April 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM ET.
