76ers’ Kyle Lowry Downgraded vs. Grizzlies on Wednesday

Will Kyle Lowry play on Wednesday night?

On Wednesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are coming home following a short two game road trip that saw them take a game against the Dallas Mavericks, as well as drop one against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night.

Their loss on Monday night came against a short-handed Nets side, who were without the likes of Cam Thomas, Ben Simmons, and Day'Ron Sharpe among other, but the Sixers were also plagued by injuries.

Tyrese Maxey was the most notable exclusion from Monday night's action, as the All-Star sat out due to a concussion following a collision with Derrick Jones Jr's foot on Sunday afternoon.

With their two leading scorers out, Philadelphia had to look elsewhere for their offensive energy, one of their outlets would be Kyle Lowry, who appeared in the starting rotation for the third straight game following the beginning of Nick Nurse's experimentation with the starting five.

The 37-year-old showed why he deserved a starting spot in the lineup, as he would go on to drop 14 points on 55 percent from the field, which includes four makes from beyond the arch. The Philadelphia native would also show off his playmaking capabilities, dishing out five assists throughout the match.

While Lowry had himself quite the night in Brooklyn, it appears that won't be the case on Wednesday night, as the veteran will miss the match due to rest.

Given that the Grizzlies are quite muffled by injuries themselves, being without two-time All-Star Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr, and Desmond Bane amongst others, Nurse and the Sixers' medical team feel that tonight could be a good game to rest.

While Lowry sat on the bench on Monday night, Nurse opted to put in former Raptor and current Delaware Blue Coat stand out Jeff Dowtin in, as well as Kelly Oubre Jr.

Dowtin played his first game in a Sixers jersey after signing a two-way deal with the team last week, failing to register a shot attempt in the five minutes of game time that he received.

Oubre on the other hand, would go off for a game-high 30 points, shooting with a sublime 55 percent from the field, while securing a total of six rebounds for the Sixers.

Given that De'Anthony Melton is set to remain out for his fourth straight game following a reignited issue in his back, Nurse may tend to go for that same rotation of Dowtin and Oubre, as well as Cameron Payne who appeared in the starting lineup against Brooklyn.

The Sixers are set to take on the Grizzlies on Wednesday night, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
