Kelly Oubre Addresses Actions Following Sixers’ Loss vs. Clippers

In this story:
It turns out that Kelly Oubre’s frustrations with the referees that called the game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday were justified.
According to the veteran, though, he went overboard with his actions following a critical no-call.
With just seconds left on the clock of a one-point game in favor of the visitors, Oubre had the ball last, which gave him an opportunity to be the hero. When he went up for a final shot with defenders surrounding him, Oubre couldn’t get the ball off in time before the buzzer sounded off.
However, many in attendance at the Wells Fargo Center believed he was fouled by Clippers forward, Paul George.
In realtime, Oubre didn’t generate a foul. After the play was reviewed by officials, they admitted there was a mistake. The play should’ve resulted in a trip to the line for Oubre, after all.
He was right — but also wrong.
“Heat of the moment… This is an intense basketball game,” Oubre told reporters after the game. “We’re not perfect. The refs aren’t perfect. I want to apologize for just losing my cool because that’s something I try to work on each and every day and try to represent God in the best way I possibly can and that wasn’t it. I just asked for forgiveness.”
Oubre wasn’t the only member of the organization going off in front of the officials after the matchup. 76ers head coach Nick Nurse was animated and letting the crew hear it as well. In the heat of the moment, Oubre found himself chiming in and understands that as a result, he could land in some trouble with the NBA.
“It wasn’t cool,” the veteran finished. “I’ll take whatever penalties come with that. I have to move on, but I gotta be better in the sense.”
The Sixers had a tough night, collecting a second-straight loss. As frustrating as it was, Oubre and the 76ers have to re-group before heading into their Friday night matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road.
