76ers’ Joel Embiid Could Miss Another Game vs. Mavericks

In this story:
As the Philadelphia 76ers prepare for their matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the team’s six-time All-Star big man Joel Embiid is unsure whether or not he’ll get the nod to play on Wednesday.
According to the team’s injury report, Embiid is dealing with calf tightness still. The center’s recent health concerns started exactly a week ago when the 76ers were taking on the Chicago Bulls in a rematch after a double-overtime loss.
As the Sixers had a notable lead over the Bulls in the second half, Embiid took the entire second half off. Following the win over the Bulls, Embiid entered the Sixers’ Friday night matchup against the Golden State Warriors listed as questionable.
The star center was cleared for action against the Warriors. In the loss, he played for nearly 38 minutes, scoring 46 points, while producing nine rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and one block.
In the following game against the Phoenix Suns, Embiid entered the matchup questionable before once again getting cleared for action. He appeared on the court for 32 minutes. During that time, Embiid accounted for 28 points, ten rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
After the loss to Phoenix, Embiid mentioned that he felt sluggish while revealing that he would soon need a night off so he can rest up before playoffs and avoid further complications regarding his calf.
Two nights later, Embiid took off. As the Sixers faced the Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia ruled the big man out on the morning of the matchup. It marked the first game Embiid missed since the Sixers faced the Miami Heat on March 1.
Wednesday night’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks could end up being the first time Embiid misses consecutive games since early January. As Embiid is once again questionable with calf tightness lingering, the Sixers are remaining quite cautious of the big man’s health with the playoffs around the corner.
