76ers’ Joel Embiid Racks Up Another Player of the Week Award

In this story:
For the fourth time this season, Joel Embiid has been named the Eastern Conference's Player of the Week. Embiid is now tied for the most Player of the Week awards this season and is tied with franchise legend Allen Iverson for the most weekly honors ever by a member of the Sixers in a single season.
Embiid shares the honors with Sacramento Kings standout, Domantas Sabonis.
Last week, Embiid appeared in all three games for the Sixers, averaging 32 minutes on the court. During that stretch, the big man was dominant offensively, as he averaged 35 points while draining nearly 70 percent of his shots.
In addition to Embiid’s scoring, he averaged five assists, 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Defensively, Embiid was the only player to total ten blocks during the week.
As Embiid dominated on a personal note, his team found tons of success.
As the Sixers started their weekly slate off with a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Embiid helped lead the Sixers past the Cavs with a nine-point victory.
On Friday, the Sixers paid a visit to the Charlotte Hornets. The Sixers picked up one of their most impressive wins of the year as they won by nearly 40 points.
Then on Saturday, the Sixers wrapped up a back-to-back set of games with a matchup against the Indiana Pacers. For the second-straight game, Embiid played in fewer than 30 minutes but still scored over 30 points. The Sixers ended the week on a flawless note by beating the Pacers by 20 points.
While there is still plenty of time left in the NBA’s MVP race, another weekly award for Embiid certainly strengthens the big man’s campaign for the season.
