The Philadelphia 76ers will return to the court on Tuesday night to take on the Boston Celtics for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Once again, the Sixers are approaching the matchup with their star center Joel Embiid on the injury report. As expected, Embiid is questionable for Game 5.

Since the first round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs, Embiid has battled a sprained knee. He suffered the injury during Game 3 of the first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets.

After receiving his diagnosis, Embiid was ruled out for Game 4 against the Nets. Fortunately, the Sixers completed the series sweep in his absence.

Although the Sixers had over a week off in between their first and second-round series, Embiid still wasn’t cleared for action going into Game 1 of the second round.

Initially listed as doubtful, Embiid was ruled out against the Celtics to begin the second-round series. In Embiid’s absence, the Sixers won another postseason matchup. When he finally returned to the floor for Game 2, the Celtics found success and tied the series up.

Embiid would be listed as questionable for Games 3 and 4. He ended up playing in both matchups. The Sixers split their two games at home by losing the third outing of the series and collecting an overtime win on Sunday during Game 4.

Heading into Game 5, the Sixers keep Embiid listed as questionable. However, barring any unexpected setbacks before the game, Embiid is more than likely on track to play for the fourth-straight game.

The Sixers and the Celtics are set to tip off in Boston at 7:30 PM ET.
