The Philadelphia 76ers have quite a few key names hitting the free agency market this summer. One prospect to keep an eye on will be the veteran forward Georges Niang.

Following the Sixers’ 2023 playoff run, Niang officially wrapped up a two-year deal with the Sixers that he signed following a multi-season stint with the Utah Jazz. Since Niang didn’t negotiate any extensions during the season, he’ll be free to speak with any interested suitors at the end of the week.

It’s unclear just how interested the Sixers are in bringing Niang back for another go-round with the team, but it seems there is another Eastern Conference squad to keep an eye on regarding Niang’s upcoming free-agency journey.

According to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, the Cleveland Cavaliers could be a team that targets Niang this summer. Per Fischer’s latest report, with tons of intel heading into free agency, the Cavaliers are looking at “all kings of wing targets.” The Yahoo Sports reporter name-dropped Max Strus, Kelly Oubre, and Niang.

It’s no surprise Niang will have other suitors in free agency. After all, he’s proven to be a reliable deep threat during his stints with the Jazz and the 76ers. Prior to signing with the Sixers in 2021, Niang averaged 41 percent from three across four seasons.

During his two-year run in Philadelphia, the veteran put up a career-high of nine points per game while shooting 40 percent from deep, on five attempts per outing. In a shooter’s league, Niang has proven to be consistent in one of the NBA’s most valuable departments.

With Niang being one of Philadelphia’s best three-point shooters over the last couple of seasons and being a solid locker-room presence, the Sixers will likely look into potentially getting the veteran back to continue playing a reserve role.

However, it’s unlikely the Sixers will be betting against themselves in the market for Niang this offseason.
