Soon, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics will meet for the third time this season. On December 1, the two teams will battle it out at TD Garden for the first time in the regular season series to see who will take the lead in the race for the top of the Eastern Conference.

With the Sixers’ rivalry against the Celtics still holding a lot of juice these days, ESPN has decided to give the game a bump into the primetime spotlight, removing the matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Dallas Mavericks.

Lately, the Grizzlies haven’t been one of the Western Conference’s better teams, failing to mirror their success from last season. With 13 games down, Memphis has just three wins to show for, which places them well out of the early playoff picture.

As a result, the NBA has decided that Memphis’ matchup against the 9-5 Mavericks wouldn’t entertain in the national spotlight as much as the two top teams in the East battling it out.

At this point, the Sixers are sitting in second place with a 10-3 record. They are half a game back from the Boston Celtics, who hold an 11-3 record.

When the two teams met for the first time a couple of weeks back, the Sixers managed to maintain one of the NBA’s most successful win streaks this year so far and took care of business against Boston. One week later, the Celtics won the rematch, offering the Sixers their first set of consecutive losses this season.

On December 1, the Sixers and the Celtics will battle it out at 7:30 PM ET.
