The Boston Celtics are dealing with some uncertainty on the injury front heading into Wednesday night’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

On Tuesday night, as the Sixers battled it out with the Indiana Pacers, the Celtics added their star big man, Kristaps Porzingis, to the injury report. He was considered questionable due to a right knee contusion.

When Wednesday morning rolled around, the Celtics added another starter to the report, including Jaylen Brown, who is dealing with a non-COVID illness. Similar to Porzingis, Brown is questionable for the matchup against the Sixers.

Both players would be notable losses for the Celtics on Wednesday, as they play significant roles in the rotation. Despite being a new addition, Porzingis has been a seamless fit for the Celtics in his first ten outings with the team. Averaging 30 minutes on the floor, the former first-round pick is accounting for nearly 20 points per game while shooting 57 percent from the field and 41 percent from three. He’s also averaged six rebounds per game along with two assists and one block.

When the Sixers and the Celtics battled it out a week ago, Porzingis checked in for a 31-minute shift in South Philly. Although he struggled from deep, missing all but two of his six three-point attempts, he had an efficient night from the field overall, scoring 29 points. He also collected six rebounds, three assists, and one block in the Sixers win.

As for Jaylen Brown, he’s had a slower start than expected, with his numbers down from last season. However, he’s been around long enough in the league to prove he’s an offensive threat. The Sixers found success against Brown defensively in their first outing, holding him to 11 points as he shot 31 percent from the field. It’s unclear if he’ll get an opportunity to bounce back or not on Wednesday night.
