On Monday, the Philadelphia 76ers finally return to the court to take on the Boston Celtics in the second round of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

At this point, it’s well-known that the Sixers could enter the matchup shorthanded, as their All-Star center Joel Embiid has been battling a knee injury.

After experiencing soreness in his knee during the Game 3 matchup against the Brooklyn Nets in the first round last week, Embiid was diagnosed with a knee sprain. As expected, Embiid is currently doubtful for Monday’s Game 1 against Boston.

As for the Celtics, they are rather healthy heading into the series. While they won’t have the veteran Danilo Gallinari on the court, as he continues recovering from a knee injury, which he suffered over the offseason, the rest of the Celtics’ roster is good to go.

Boston listed the veteran forward Jaylen Brown on the injury report as he continues dealing with a facial fracture. While Brown’s on the injury report, his current status is listed as available. As expected, Brown will continue sporting a face mask during the second-round series against the Sixers.

This season, Brown played in 67 games for the Celtics. He averaged 36 minutes on the court throughout the year, producing 27 points per game.

In four outings against the Sixers this year, Brown left one game early with an injury and missed an entire matchup. His lone absence against the Sixers this season occurred in early April, when the Sixers picked up their first win over the Celtics this year.

In the three games Brown appeared in against the Sixers this season, he averaged 22 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

During Boston’s first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, Brown played in all six games, averaging 38 minutes on the court. He put up 27 points per game while knocking down 52 percent of his threes. In addition to scoring, Brown averaged three assists and five rebounds.

Brown will face the Sixers in the postseason for the second time in his career beginning on Monday night.
