Just one night after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics have added a veteran center through the trade market. In a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Celtics landed former Sixers center Mike Muscala.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics are acquiring Muscala in exchange for Justin Jackson and two second-round picks.

With the Celtics being in a position to win now, Muscala is a solid pickup. Although Boston already has several reliable bigs in Al Horford and Robert Williams, the acquisition of Muscala gives them stronger depth off the bench as they prepare to make another run for the NBA title.

In 43 games this season, Muscala has averaged 15 minutes on the floor. During that time, he put up six points while coming down with three rebounds. The veteran knocked down 44 percent of his shots from the field and averaged 39 percent of his threes on 3.3 attempts per game.

Although the Celtics also have a decent backup in Luke Kornet, who had a nice audition against the Sixers on Wednesday during his 28-minute shift in the absence of Horford and Williams, the Celtics add more competition to the mix and grow stronger as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

And while the Sixers haven't been linked to any reunions with Muscala, the veteran center could've been in play for Philly, who are looking to potentially add another big.

More on Sixers Trade Deadline

Centers Sixers Should Consider

With the struggles of Montrezl Harrell and Paul Reed behind Joel Embiid, the Sixers have been on the hunt to add another prospect to throw into the rotation. Here’s a look at six centers that make sense for Philadelphia, based on intel from around the league.

Message for Matisse

One name that’s been consistently thrown in trade rumors for the Sixers consistently is Matisse Thybulle. The defensive standout was rumored to have multiple teams interested in services. As he navigates through another deadline, Tobias Harris revealed his message to the young veteran on Wednesday.

No Noise Until After the Deadline

Sixers sharpshooter Georges Niang might not be a name thrown in rumors for the Sixers, but even if he was, he wouldn’t pay attention. Niang discussed his past memories of playing through the trade deadline and made it clear that he does all he can to avoid hearing all of the outside noise.
